Meghan and I were both raised in strict environments, with parents who are in loving marriages (and still are), who prized academic achievement above all else.

Again, the problem here is that someone - I don’t know who - has decided that, unlike Meghan, I am not “down to earth, friendly, smart or thoughful.”

And a gossip blog has published it, as if that’s the truth. 

I’m sorry, stranger-who-wrote-into-Valleywag, have we met?  Do we know each other?  Quite honestly, other than my love of taking a lot of photos, I’m not sure what, exactly, I’ve done that’s so upsetting.  I don’t do drugs, I rarely drink, I don’t sleep around, I’ve never smoked a cigarette, I have two jobs, I love to read and rarely watch tv, I’ve never been late with my rent and I pay all of my credit card bills on time, I take good care of my dog, and I would do anything for my girl friends.

Which part of this says “bad influence”? 

Anyway, this most recent post just underscores my point below.  I never want to believe perception is everything, but I suppose it is, isn’t it? 

MY RESPONSE:  

 People do not realize or appreciate the internally positive influence Julia has on her friends. Last year at this time, I was a broken hearted little bird that desperately needed resuscitation. Julia brought me back to life and taught me that I could make a career for myself just as fulfilling as any previous love affair. I was pretty catatonic when I moved back to New York, stumbling around the city lacking self confidence and direction. Julia managed to arrange opportunities to get me out of my funk and move on to our next adventure.

Julia, Mary, and I are ‘just having fun’ something that seems foreign in this rat-race age full of boundaries. I know it is innately human for people to speculate about others, but before you do do that with your nasty comments, please know that perception is very different than the truth. To me, Julia is one of the most compelling free-spirited inspiring individuals to be around. What you see from the media has no validity to her real relationships with others. I am so grateful and astonished to have befriended such dynamic special women.
