At ABPR looking at Kiran Rai’s India inspired clothing line Sir Alistair Rai. I went crazy over the Spring 2010 collection, wanting to snag this scarf straight out of the showroom.

For years, I’ve been looking for an Indian clothing designer that could find a way to merge both fabrics and philosophies from the east into up-to-date western wear for the west. For those of you not familiar with fashion in India, the design community is still emerging. Mumbai Fashion Week is still fairly new, and has yet to bring most of the products with standardized sizing into the hands of the consumers. So, on a chance meeting, I was delighted to meet Indian fashion designer Kiran Rai. I have a fetish for female entrepreneurs, so meeting Kiran (founder of Sir Alistair Rai) absolutely made my year.
Like a sugar addled child, I asked way too many questions about fashion merchandising, which I know nothing about. Kiran was kind enough to handle my inquisitiveness by answering all my questions with humor and honesty. Because I came back from our dinner on a “You Go Girl!” high, completely inspired, I thought I should feature Kiran’s clothing line. India is in great need of a fashion designer to represent in the West and I think Kiran Rai has the talent and business sense to be as well known as designers like Donna Karen and DVF.
Did I mention she looks like an Indian princess with features that channel the beauty of celebrities like Penelope Cruz and Anne Hathaway? Beauty, brains, and a clothing line….
Ladies and gentleman, let me introduce you to Kiran Rai.

Growing pains! I woke up in the middle of the night stressing hard about those ever so confusing life decisions. So much frustration flooded me that I had no choice but to get up and head to the nearest diner at 4am. I’m sure choosing an egg over meditation to decompress is probably not the best decision. But at this point, I’ll try anything to soothe my muddled mind. So here I go, thinking I can, in one sitting, solve all of life’s little personal hurdles over some cold eggs at a 24-hour diner.

From corners of Manhattan near and far, good friends came together to revel in the spirit of All Hallow’s Eve (and eat Jordan’s sugary cranberries) and watch the parade go down 6th Avenue. Our fav part of the parade was definitely the group dance to a Michael Jackson medley on the street. The verdict for this group, however, was that synchronized dancing is not among our many strengths. (From left: Liz, Erin, Cary, Jordan, me, Krystal, Kate).

When done correctly, couples costumes can be rad times one thousand (as evidenced here by Native American sex pots Krystal and Jonathan and Candyland superstars Danielle and Ben). My take is, as long as you’re not trying to dress as sexy Hansel and Gretel as a couple (because, ew, they’re siblings), couples costumes are amazing.

Darlene (aka Brittany Spear’s Police costume) and me playing doubles…as in double trouble.
And yes, I did change costumes mid-party (much more comfortable than wearing leopard print stilettos).

My favorite picture of the night, Megan and Kendrick getting jiggy wit’ it. Our resident “Dancing Queen” was trying to get the crowd moving all night, and she finally found herself a partner.

Unfortunately, “Cat” didn’t make it to the party.  He would have been the perfect accessory for Holly Golightly (aka Megan Alagna).

Talk about geekin’ out, I had the most notable features of each Apple operating system printed on the sleeves.
