A Note of Support from the Deepest, Darkest Internets
Hi Meghan,
I’m one of those random people who reads your blog(s) - the two blog thingo is a bit confusing, but that’s what a reader is for, right?
Ugh. Already I digress…
Anyhoo. Not that it matters much, but I saw the needlessly mean piece on Valleywag and figured that since these are the interwebs I might as well send you a note. Something along the lines of:
Forget them, their pointless snark, and their over compensation all that’s missing in their hollow lives. I don’t know JA, but I know some of her public persona (for all I know it’s completely authentic), and it seems if she’s guilty of anything it’s a bubbly zest for life. I’m sure a cliché would be de rigueur about now. Perhaps something the benefit of childlike wonder. Oooh! I know: You’re young, life is short. In fact, far to short to worry about what anyone writes to attain a couple of thousand page impressions. Besides which, I happen to admire your pluck.
So there you have it: A genuine (if scarcely intelligible) note of support from the deepest, darkest internets. From the other side of the blinking world, for that matter.
Take care.

My response:
Hi,
Thank you for emailing me. I rarely get upset about other’s blog posts, but recent articles make me question how I am perceived. I vacillate from thinking that I am just having fun to wondering if I am completely ruining my nonexistent reputation in the tech community. Most of what they post is untrue, but I wonder later on if this type of PR will make it hard for me to transition into a solid career. Since quitting my job and being more ‘expressive’, my level of fulfillment and confidence has skyrocketed. Life is about following your dreams and working hard enough at a goal until you obtain it. Though my goal needs a bit more time and focus, I have no doubt that it will be achieved as long as there are others around also with the same pursuit.
Your encouragement is appreciated more than you know,
Meghan
