Today, I was fortunate enough to meet Miss Alana Taylor (a fellow Geekette) whom wanted to interview me along with other ladies in technology on what it is like to be a Web 2.0 woman. She picked a great subject to write about that ultimately led to me making up an insanely useful (ok- useless) term ‘poo-pooing’ (check out Alana’s post below, for an explanation).
I can’t begin to explain how nice it is to meet a fellow woman in tech. At first, we both awkwardly introduced ourselves, as we had only known of each other from the blogosphere. It is always an odd feeling meeting someone in ‘real life’ that you follow on the web. I like to equate it to being somewhat ‘star struck’. Within minutes we were chatting it up referencing techie friends in common, applications, companies, and gadgets like fashionistas referencing designers, handbags, and shoes at a fashion show. Because there is such a small amount of female technology bloggers, it was easy to bond fast by confiding to each other that most of our non-tech girlfriends don’t know what the hell we are taking about in terms of pod camp, twitter, meta, etc. I am incredibly impressed with Miss Alana Taylor; I think this Geekette is on the top of my list to watch in the future. She is young, smart, interesting, and charismatic enough to make her way to the top of your blogroll. Here is what she wrote about our meeting today:

Coffee with Meghan Asha
Today I went to go meet up with Meghan Asha. I was dying to interview her for this article that I am writing on girls in technology and web 2.0, and it was really nice of Meghan to take a bit of time out of busy schedule to have a chat with me :)
We talked about everything from how blogging and Twittering is changing the world, to why girls will take over the tech industry, and even about how you can watch DiggNation on Virgin Atlantic! Meghan was not only a great subject to talk to for my article (because she fits the description of a girl in technology) but she was also a great source of advice on how to further my own presence on the internet.
I have been watching the girls (and when I say “the girls” I really mean Meghan, Mary, and Julia) for a long time now, and they have definitely mastered the art of online personal branding and entertainment. Being able to share stories with Meghan and hear from her first-hand what it’s like to be a girl in the tech world was really refreshing. (I even got some tips on how to stay cool in front of the camera… i.e. using words like “poo-pooing”! — Alright, you had to be there).
But seriously, poo-pooing is where its at. If you can’t poo-poo yourself into a successful career then you will never survive in this industry. Meghan knows this. And now I do too.
Ladies, it’s officially time to poo-poo all over tech. There is a niche market for girls who are geeky and nerdy, yet fun and lovable — and CrAzY! We are few right now, but if the few of us who are poo-pooing go out into the world and bring more girls to poo-poo with, then we will be unstoppable.
Okay, you REALLY had to be there.
Not only do I love Meghan for her kindness, advice, and total AWESOMENESS, but now I adore her for sharing something with me in common: MAKING UP WORDS, Y’ALL! (Remember when I created “uncannynessosity” and “busy-ness” and “twitpendence day”? Well, there’s more of where that came from.)
Without further a due, here is *drum roll please* what you have ALL been waiting for…..
